Dance canceled over threats at middle school

A Webster County school canceled a middle school dance due tobomb threats made by two eighth-graders, parents and schoolofficials said. Two students were expelled for 265 days, inaccordance with state safe schools laws, for allegedly planning aschool grounds attack that may have involved firearms and, accordingto some parents, sexual assault of other students.

Hacker Valley Elementary, a kindergarten through eighth-gradeschool in Hacker Valley, was scheduled to hold a dance Feb. 17 whena parent concerned by what her child told her regarding aconversation with the two eighth-graders contacted school officials.
